Meet Alyssa Francis, PhD.
Dr. Francis is a licensed psychologist located in RI who specializes in comprehensive assessments for children, adolescents, and adults. She specializes in neurodevelopmental disorders including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and learning disabilities. In addition, she provides psychological assessment exploring mood, anxiety, trauma, and personality traits.
Dr. Francis earned her master’s degree in developmental science before continuing on to her doctorate in psychology at the University of Rhode Island. During her time as a doctoral student Dr. Francis completed several neuropsychological rotations including inpatient and outpatient settings.
Dr. Francis completed her predoctoral training through Rutgers University where she trained as a behavior specialist in a large public school district. In addition to her work as a behavior specialist she held counseling services, led assessments, and implemented interventions to best support students. She then completed her postdoctoral training in neuropsychological and psychological assessment at a private practice working with children, teens, and adults.
Dr. Francis currently works in outpatient settings providing assessment services to individuals and families. In addition, she provides consultation to local school districts. When she is not meeting with clients she gains additional training in the assessment and diagnosis of neurodevelopmental disabilities, mood disorders, and other psychiatric diagnoses (e.g., posttraumatic stress disorder, anxiety disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder) to stay up to date on latest research and deliver high quality care.
Outside of the office, Dr. Francis can be found outside in nature, participating in yoga, and spending time with friends and family.
My Approach
Step 1: Intake
Let’s meet! During this meeting I’d like to learn about you and what brings you in. We’ll discuss current symptoms and gather historical information.
Step 3: Results
We’ll meet to review the results and discuss treatment planning. I am always available for follow-up questions or to help coordinate care.
STEP 2: Assessment
During these sessions we’ll complete tasks and interviews to best address the referral question.
